Within the Eastern Ontario Health Unit geographic region, we are a concerned group of common-sense Canadians from many professions and backgrounds with a deep appreciation for the dignity of individual liberty - especially when it pertains to health and bodily autonomy. We value the freedom of mind and speech to question things and make our own decisions. Simply put, we are pro-choice - and the choice should be an INFORMED choice - free from coercion - taking into account personal circumstances (which may, in a pluralistic society vary from one individual to another) and the facts surrounding an evolving situation (being open-minded allows a person to adjust to new and better information, instead of being mindlessly locked-in). The Alliance encourages CIVILITY - it is important to be calm, to be civil, to be considerate in making comments.
We guard these founding values of our great country. The words "True North Strong and Free" from our national anthem are not just an empty phrase.
We are teachers, lawyers, police officers, firefighters, nurses, and public servants – people from all walks of life. In other words, we are like you.
We believe in open discussion and full disclosure on matters that are currently affecting every one of us. We believe that truth, respect and individual liberty is the only solid basis on which unity, amity and full-spectrum well-being can be achieved by individuals.
Our aim with this website is to provide a hub of resources and contextualized data to assist you in good decision-making and guarding your health and your health freedom. We also wish to encourage discernment while navigating the soul-trying, unfamiliar waters of Covid. You are not alone. There are many in our community who have the same questions as you do.
We should intelligently question everything. When we do so, it is inevitable that we find truth. And truth has real authority. Authorities do not make truth. Try to think of this website as a Town Square where different views can be heard and which lets everyone else listen or read, if they choose. This website is a living and evolving one - as new information accumulates, new (and improved) conclusions may be reached.
Eastern Ontario Health Alliance has participants throughout our entire eastern Ontario region of 5 counties, with a population of 213,000. We believe that personal local involvement, knowledge of local data and oversight of our government/policy makers by the People is crucial to guard our individual rights while we get through Covid. We are of the opinion that there is no collective “public health” without individual health.
